TechAmerica (formerly AeA)
TechAmerica is first and foremost a political advocacy group. With local councils around the nation and lobbying offices in Sacramento and Washington DC, TechAmerica is ever vigilant in promoting the cause of high-tech companies.
In addition, the local councils (I am a member of the Orange County council) provide resources and networking opportunities to local companies. The meetings range from political to small business to global issues. They also provide round-table meetings for different job descriptions, including HR, CEO and Product Management.
AASE (American Association of Senior Executives)
The AASE focuses on executive networking, professional education and career development. With only C-level executives allowed, this membership-based group is an excellent place to meet other executives. While most meeting attendees are in transition, I have found very useful contacts here. Whether you are in transition or not, I believe this is the best place to learn and practice networking with other executives.

This one-year-old group meet in Laguna Niguel. Started by some expert networkers who wanted to build a sense of community, the (free) monthly meetings are focused on making connections. There are no industry or position restrictions and the group is passionate about people making connections. This is a great place to expand your network and meet new people.
